自由学園明日館（豊島区）

わがBlogの名物 「池袋近隣の名所・旧跡のご紹介」 のコーナー？です。

本日のご紹介は、１９２１年４月１５日に豊島区に設立された 「自由学園明日館」

のご紹介。

こちらはクリスチャンだった女性思想家の羽仁もと子、羽仁吉一氏によってキリスト教精神に

基ずいた理想教育を実践しようとして建てられた物です。

※ちなみに現在の学校法人自由学園は、今は東京都東久留米市に移られてます。

写真は明日館の中央棟。

明日館の建物で、この中央棟、東教室棟、西教室棟、講堂は フランク・ロイド・ライトと

遠藤 新（どちらも有名な建築家）の共同設計で、１９９７年に国の重要文化財に

指定されています。


場所は東京都豊島区西池袋２－３１－３

JR池袋駅より徒歩５分です。

１０：００～１６：００まで見学できます（見学料が発生しますので、ご確認下さい）。

毎週月曜日が休刊日です（月曜日が祝日または振替休日の場合、その翌日が休刊日）。

この建物は、池袋界隈で空間的開放を演出してますので、一見の価値ありです。
